This year, Tasmanians came together for the first Celebrate Tasmania Day.

I believe there is a lot to celebrate around our beautiful state: its people, its heritage, its environment and its close knit community.

As a community, we can unite around the symbol that represent this place. At the moment, the Tasmanian flag includes a lion, an animal that has never been found in Tasmania.

We have Tasmanian animals and plants only found in our state. I believe it is time for us discuss whether there is a new symbol that we could see representing Tasmania on our flag today.
